Travel to and from Santiago , Chile
Participants should make their own travel arrangements to and from Santiago . It is advisable to confirm your return trip when arriving to Santiago in order to ensure your flight on the date required.
Visas
Visitors should have a valid passport and an entry visa, if necessary. Visas should be applied for at the Chilean Consulate. The Information Office for the Conference will provide assistance to participants from countries with no Chilean consular representative. see Countries that need Visa
Exit Visa
There may be other requirements imposed by your local authorities on granting permission to leave the country (exit visas). If you need an invitation letter to apply for the Chilean visa please send an e-mail to info@alam2006.cl with all your personal details and your arrival and depart date.
Taxes and airport rates
You have to pay a tax of USS 26 or the equivalent Chilean Money on international flights from Chile . For national flights, this tax is included in the flight ticket rate.
For those visitors with an Australian, American, Canadian or Mexican passport will have to pay a reciprocity tax before they enter the country.

Health
The International Travel and Health Paper (1997) of the Pan-American health office, indicates that foreign visitants don't require any vaccines. Although, it's recommended that visitants hire a medical insurance program that covers those expenses during their stay.
Insurance
Participants are advised to arrange their own individual medical, travel and personal effects insurance while attending the Meetings
Customs and immigration
Electronic articles such as video cameras, personal computers and others, have to be declared when arriving to Chile as ¨temporal entrance objects¨ (objetos de entrada temporal).
Foreign tourists normally don't have any custom problems while they travel with their personal articles only. However, the following elements are excluded:
- Fruits, seeds, vehicles or non processed products of animal origin.
- Fire arms, ammunitions or explosives.
- Illegal drugs.
Sanitary controls
Animal products and vegetables can only be allowed to enter the country with prior authorization from the Agricultural and Cattle Raiser Service of Chile (Servicio Agricola y Ganadero de Chile ).
