TREASURES OF EASTER ISLAND

4 days 3 nights

DAY 1
Arrival to Easter Island. Reception at Mataveri Airport with flower and/or shell necklaces. Transfer to the hotel in Hanga Roa. Overnight.
DAY 2
A full day tour, along the Moai route, visiting: Vaihu, a place which is surrounded by enormous statues which have fallen face down; the ruins of Akahanga, which are in their natural condition and where the first king of the island was buried. Further along, we will see the Rano Raraku volcano, situated close to the southern shore of the island, and at the Basis of Poike, which is the most spectacular crater in the zone and where the former island-people carved the giant statues from the volcano's quarry. Here we can see the different stages in the construction of the Moais, the biggest of which still remains at the Basis of the quarry and which is more than 20m long and weighs just under 200 tons. We will the visit the restored Ahu Tongariki, the biggest on the Island with 15 Moais (Statues), which had been destroyed by a tidal wave in 1960. We then visit Te Pito Kura, an ancient settlement with a mystical circular stone before carrying on to Anakena beach. Free time to enjoy the warm sea waters which surround the island. In the afternoon, return to the hotel. Lodging
DAY 3
A half-day tour to the Rano Kao volcano, whose deep crater of lush vegetation contains a large fresh water lake covered with totora. From there, we will continue onto the Cultural Centre of Orongo, situated at the top of the crater at over 300m above sea level and where year after year the Bird Man or Tangata Manu ceremony takes place. We can see more than 100 petroglyphs which represent the Make-Make God and the Manutara seabird amongst others. Next, we will proceed to Ana Kai Tangata, a cavern where the island people took refuge during times of war and where you can see many pre-historic paintings. In the afternoon we will make another excursion visiting Ahu Akivi, the big platform, which is composed of 7 Moais, all of them facing the sea; the Ana Tepahu caverns and the quarry of Puna Pau, where the top part of the Moais were sculpted (named Pukao, which means "typical hairstyle"), and Ahu Tahai. Return to the hotel. Overnight.
DAY 4
Transfer to Mataveri Airport at the agreed time for the departure flight.

EXCURSIONS VIÑA DEL MAR & VALPARAÍSO

    8 Hrs

Depart from Santiago to Curacavi and Casablanca Valleys located on the way to Viña del Mar. These valleys are known internationally for producing wines. This is mainly due to natural factors such as the soil and climate, which allow the grapes to mature slowly, giving the fruit unique characteristics.

Our journey continues to Viña del Mar, Chile’s principal summer resort town. The “Garden City” as it is also known, with its fine parks, promenades and elegant buildings, its renowned Casino displays the aristocratic and exclusive character of its founder Jose Francisco Vergara. This will be our first stop, where we can admire the magnificent “Vistorias”, these old pulled by horses coaches, constitute one of Viña´s oldest symbols.

We will drive past its beaches, until we reach Reñaca, here we will stop right next to the beach to enjoy the relaxed ambiences of one of Chile’s most exclusive beaches. The largest seaside resort, with prestigious restaurants and modern Mediterranean-style buildings.

We will then drive back to Viña del Mar along Libertad Avenue with its beautiful threes, mansions and public buildings. We will continue our way to Valparaiso, recently named “Heritage of Humanity” by the UNESCO.

Valparaiso offers us the astonishing spectacle of houses that seem to hang from the hills that surround Chile’s premier commercial port. Home to the legislative branch of government, Valparaiso is recovering some of its past glory dating back to when it was one of the most important ports on the Pacific.

We will enjoy lunch in a traditional restaurant.

Arrival to port at 15:00 hrs.
