Great Master Message
|
|
The
Grand Lodge of Chile extends the most fraternal
invitation to Regular Grand Lodges throughout
the world to attend the VII World Conference of
Grand Lodges, which will be held in Santiago,
Chile from May 5 to 9, 2004.
The official representation of each Grand Lodge
shall be the respective
Grand Master or whomever is formally appointed
by him; the Illustrious Brother Masters who form
part of the
Grand Master may also attend, as well as the Illustrious
Brother Masters, with observer status.
The VI th World Conference, held in New Delhi,
India, in November 2002, the attending Grand Lodges
unanimously agreed to confer this responsibility
on the Grand Lodge of Chile, which we have assumed
as a high honor and an excellent opportunity to
work towards a productive friendship and understanding
among all the Regular Grand Lodges. |
Since the Chilean delegation returned
from India, the entire institutional structure has been
put into action to organize and eventually carry out
a really enjoyable Conference for the Illustrious Brothers
who attend to it, by virtue both of the work accomplished
and of the human warm that must distinguish all of our
institution's meetings.
On his visit to Chile last March, the
Thomas W. Jackson, Secretary of the World Conference,
examined the planning and other organization details
and expressed his full agreement and satisfaction with
what has been done. In addition, the agenda and the
list of Grand Lodges to be invited has also been agreed
upon.
The main topic: "FREEMASON UNIVERSALISM AND WORLD
SOCIETY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XXI CENTURY" will
provide the opportunity to exchange opinions and points
of view, within the framework of our ancient customs
and mores, regarding such an interesting topic and at
the same time, will provide an opportunity for all the
attending Brothers to learn from each other.
A program has been prepared for companions of the attendees,
especially wives and female relatives, to get to know
the city of Santiago and its surroundings, its countryside,
typical craftsmanship and other places of interest,
within the time available.
We will have an event in which we will wear our traditional
Masonic Garb, and on the following nights, events in
which it will be possible to learn about some Chilean
folklore and strengthen the friendship among Brothers.
We will finish activities on Sunday the 9th of May,
country outing where we will taste traditional Chilean
food and observe other examples of the characteristics
and traditions of this very friendly country.
We greatly look forward to your presence and active
participation, along with our organization, in a happy
and successful VII World Conference of the Grand Lodges.

Executive Secretary Message
|
My
brothers, it is a privilege, pleasure and honor
for me as Executive Secretary of the World Conference
of Masonic Grand Lodges to extend to you a special
invitation to attend the meeting of the VII
th World Conference to be held in Santiago,
Chile, May 5th through the 9th, 2004.
The organizing committee of the Grand Lodge
has been working diligently to make of this
conference more than just a meeting; they want
it to be a great experience in your lives. In
order to accomplish this objective, they have
put in place an impressive organizational structure.
Within three weeks after the closure of the
VI th World Conference held last year in Delhi,
India, the Grand Lodge was in touch with me
to begin preparations for the conference. I
spent a week in Chile in March of this year
working with the organizing committee to advise
them about what was good in our past conferences,
as what as where we could improve. We are reviewing
all papers presented to past conferences as
well as comments made by delegates in order
to present a programme most beneficial to attendees.
|
I have heard many comments about the resalts of the
conference has caused. For the first time, World Grand
Officers will understand more fully the true meaning
and spirit of Freemasonry. We have come a long way against
many odds in structuring a Conference that gives world
leaders the opportunity to understand Freemasonry as
it operates in various regions of the globe, nothing
its unique qualities and similar challenges. It is our
goal, however, to continue to improve. If anyone has
any suggestions or observations from past conferences,
please communicate them to me.
While recognizing the specific purpose of the Conference
is to provide an environment of understanding and working
together for our Craft, the Grand Lodge of Chile will
be programed structures to give the ladies an opportunity
to enjoy the unique characteristics of this country.
Several very exciting side trips will also be available,
some to exotic and famous locations that most never
have the chance to visit.
My Brothers, I look forward with much anticipation to
greeting you in Santiago where Freemasonry will be,
truly universal.
Come to Chile and experience it with us.

Thomas W. Jackson
